What is the training leash used for?
The slip leash is a versatile training tool that provides effective dog control without being a choke collar. Contrary to popular belief, it is not used to punish the dog through pressure, but rather to communicate with him clearly and progressively. It tightens slightly when the dog pulls and loosens as soon as he adopts a relaxed walk, thus teaching him to respond to changes in tension.
Dog trainers appreciate it for several reasons:
- Simplicity and speed – Easy to put on and adjust, it is ideal for training, shelters and veterinary clinics.
- Smooth Control – Its design allows for effective guidance without discomfort when used properly.
- Educational Tool – It teaches the dog to follow signals given by tension and release, promoting smooth and relaxed leash walking.
- Increased Safety – Unlike buckle collars, it prevents the dog from backing up and escaping, which is essential for nervous or learning dogs.
When used properly, the slip leash is an excellent communication tool that promotes a relationship of trust between the dog and its human, without resorting to force or coercion.
